Each year, Christmas always comes upon me in a rush and I find myself dedicating one weekend sometime around November to pumping out at least fifty handmade Christmas cards. This year I am determined to be more organised and so I am starting early by taking stock of my stash and posting at least one Christmas card a month! I’m on the Seven Hills Crafts Blog this week with this card featuring the Happy Owlidays set from Winnie & Walter. It’s a very simple design for a Christmas card that can be replicated very easily. In fact, I made several at once and made a good start to my Christmas card supply!
Merry and Bright Christmas Card Tutorial
I started with an A6 card base of Clare Fontane 300gsm DCP paper. I used my MISTI to stamp both the dove and the sentiment from the Happy Owlidays set in some MFT Black Licorice Hybrid Ink. I used four different Copic markers in shades of cool grey and orange to colour in the dove before covering the whole bird in some Nuvo Crystal Glaze. I wanted a strong background without the hassle of keeping in the lines and the glazed area will resist any non-permanent ink. Once completely dry (I left overnight) I blended on some Salty Ocean Distress Ink, focusing it so that it is was brightest around the edges of the bird. After buffing off the ink trapped on the glaze, I added a trio of Crystal Clear Sequins.
A simple, elegant and very easy to reproduce handmade Christmas card!
