Happy Easter to those who celebrate! It’s actually sunny here in the UK at the moment (a strange occurrence for any Bank Holiday weekend!). Perfect time for a little bit of crafting and a spring card!
Before we get to today’s card, hop on over to the HeffyDoodle shop as they have 15% off all the cuteness going on until 6th April using the coupon code Eggcellent15. It’s a great chance to stock up on all the wonderfulness that is HeffyDoodle!
Congr-hatch-ulations! Spring Card Tutorial
Firstly, I started out with two A6 panels of smooth white cardstock and got ready to get inky with my Distress Inks. On one panel I blended on the ink horizontally so the ink was darkest at the top, working though Squeezed Lemonade, Abandoned Coral and Seedless Preserves. On the other panel, I blended on some Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn before splattering on some clear water droplets, blotting off with a paper towel and leaving to dry. I then die cut the green panel using a Lawn Fawn Simple Grassy Hillside die.
Whilst the inked panels were drying, I stamped out the chicks and eggs from the HeffyDoodle Honey Bunny Boo and Eggcellent News stamp sets onto some Clarefontaine 210gsm DCP paper with some MFT Black Licorice Hybrid Ink. Next, I chose some bright and springlike Copic markers to colour them in with and then cut them out with the coordinating dies.
Then I adhered the ink background panel to a top-folding horizontal A6 card base and arranged my springtime chicks in a scene. I wanted it to look as though springtime fever had hit the pile of eggs and all the chicks were hatching. The chicks at the front and flying in the sky were popped up with a little bit of foam tape.
A black panel with the white heat embossed sentiment from the Eggcellent News stamp set and a few clear sequins finished the card of nicely. Such a bright card that I’m sure any expectant mother would love to receive!
Have a safe and wonderful Easter!
