Can you believe it’s been a whole year since Heffy Doodle officially began? They’ve had some amazing releases and I’m honoured to be a Special Contributor for the Design Team. For a very Heffy birthday, we’ve got an awesome lineup for a celebratory blog hop plus an amazing £50 voucher to the Heffy Doodle store up for grabs! Plus, a coupon code for extra discount! Keep reading below for details.
As it’s a celebration, I have two cards to share with you today! They feature Wingman, Yappy Happy Mail and Sending Heffy Cut.
Happy Bird-day Birthday Card
The Wingman set is my favourite from this release and just begged to be coloured with some bright colours! I Googled pictures of parrots and used several Copic markers to achieve these bright blends. Something I learnt – the lighter markers with more blending solution in make blending different colour families easier! I made sure to colour in some coordinating feathers in the same colour.
After cutting out with the coordinating dies I finished off with a a white heat embossed sentiment, popping all the pieces up with some foam tape over a lightly blended background. Every birthday should be a ‘shake your tail feathers’ kinda day!
A Card Full of Yappy Mail Tutorial
My second card features the Yappy Happy Mail set and has lots of dimension and layers. I started by blending on some Salty Ocean and Faded Jeans Distress Oxide ink onto one card panel and some Peeled Paint onto another. Then I cut the grassy panel out with a Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Border die and adhered both to an A6 cardbase, leaving a small border on the top and bottom.
On some blending cardstock I stamped out all the images and got to work with my Copic markers. Here, I stuck to cool greys, lighter browns and red accents to make the images pop from the background. I love how the postbox coordinating die cuts out the little slit so you can post the letter! Then I arranged them together as if there was a big doggy pile of happy mail using a mixture of foam tape and tape runner.
For the sentiment, I used a die cut from the Sending Heffy Cut and white heat embossed sentiments from the set onto some red card I coloured with my red markers. I used some Swirly Clouds to balance out the top section of the card. Just think of all the love going into this happy mail!
I hope these projects have inspired you, though don’t forget to follow on the hop for some fantastic inspiration featuring the new release!
