Turtley Awesome Birthday Card Tutorial
You may have already seen a few sneak peaks of my project today. I have used the adorable Shellabrate set that was offered as an exclusive freebie if you pre-ordered any items from the new release. If you didn’t manage to snap this up now, the set will be released at a later date. Alternatively, the Oceans of Love set has a similar turtle you can use. I just love this cute little turtle made into a birthday card!
Firstly, I started off with an A6 card base, blending on some Twisted Citron, Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink into a random pattern. Then, I then splattered on some clean water droplets and set aside to dry. I then used a couple of MFT Inside & Out Stitched Circle Dienamics to cut a number of holes from another piece of A6 white card.
On some blending cardstock, I stamped out three of the turtles and two hats using some Copic-friendly MFT Licorice Black Hybrid ink. Next, I coloured them in with my Copic alcohol markers, using several hues of YG and G markers. There is a diamond shape stamp included in the set to add some detail to the shell, but I used a couple of markers to draw my own hexagonal shapes in. Then I coloured in the hats with some bright yellow and reds so they would stand out from the background. I cut these out with the coordinating dies and added a few little highlights with a white gel pen.
I absolutely love all the sentiments in this tiny set, so I had to use them all on this card. I white heat embossed them onto some black cardstock and closely trimmed them out.
To essemble the card, I used some foam tape on the back of the white panel to adhere it to the blended cardbase. I used a mixture of foam tape and liquid adhesive to adhere the turtles and sentiments, arranging them so it looks as though they’re swimming out from the peep holes!
Thanks for reading and stopping by! Don’t forget to check out the new Heffy Doodle release.
