I’m back on the Heffy Doodle blog today continuing my theme of the last couple of cards: simple scenes. Not got time to go all out with the background? Just take a couple of elements from a set and create a simple scene, adding a central focal image popped up with foam tape for a little dimension. I’m using the Fluffy Puffy Unicorns set with the theme of rainbows and unicorns today, so I chose some clouds and the rainbow for the background and the fun-loving unicorn for my focal image.
Unicorns and Rainbows Card Tutorial
I started out by creating the background scene. On some Alcohol Marker Friendly Cardstock I stamped the middle cloud first with some Lawn Fawn Jet Black Ink, masked and then stamped the other two clouds on the sides. I masked these off also, so I could stamp out the rainbow, but was careful not to ink up the very bottom lines so I could extend them down to the clouds with a marker-friendly pen. I also added a few additional segments so I could colour all of the rainbow colours.
I then took out my Copic markers and went to town with the bright, rainbow colours! Using at least three markers for each colour to give some dimension and adding a light blue gradient to the background.
I stamped out the unicorn on a smaller piece of cardstock, coloured and die cut with the coordinating dies. This little guy fits perfectly between the sentiment and the scene with a little bit of foam tape.
A few clear sequins and the card is finished! A bright and happy way to send unicorns and rainbows to cheer up any recipient!
