Cheers and Good Luck Card: Scene Colouring (Heffy Doodle DT)

Cheers and Good Luck Card: Scene Colouring (Heffy Doodle DT)

I’m back on the Heffy Doodle blog today with St Patrick’s day themed scene card featuring the Lucky Friends stamp set! Now I don’t usually send this type of card, so I changed up the sentiment to make it a general ‘Cheers and Good Luck’ type of card. Also, it’s really useful to use some of your existing dies to help create different parts of the scene. In this case, I used one of my Ovally Excited dies to create the rainbow.

Cheers and Good Luck Card Tutorial

The first step is to create the scene. I stamped out the images, using some handy Heffy Tape to mask off different areas, with some Lawn Fawn Jellyfish ink onto some blending cardstock. This combination is perfect for some no-line colouring! Of course, you have to put the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow, so I used one of the larger Stitched Oval dies to pencil in the traditional seven slices.

And onto the colouring! I used my Copic markers and started with the rainbow. I used at least three markers for each slice, with a big difference between the lightest and darkest markers to give that good contrast. Because there are a lot of warmer colours in this scene (lime greens, golds), I chose some warmer greys for the pot of gold.

The rest of the scene was quick to colour in, using the traditional greens for the leprechaun. For the finer details like the facial features, I used my coloured pencils to add in the finer lines.

The sentiment was made up of two elements: a Congrats Heffy Cut die and one of the sentiments from the Lucky Friends stamp set.

A few touches of white gel pen finish off this simple but bright and happy scene! Don’t forget about your existing dies (or even tools!) to help create scene elements.

Cheers and good luck!
