I’m back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog again today with a clean and simple big birthday heart card featuring the Concord & 9th Painted Shapes stamp set and Mama Elephant Big Happy Birthday die. I haven’t used my Distress Oxide inks in a while and I simply wanted to get inky!
Big Birthday Heart Card Tutorial
This one is really simple and honestly very quick to produce. I started out with a blank card base and stamped out the heart from the Concord&9th Painted Shapes stamp set. I used my old favourite colour combo of Faded Jeans, Peacock Feathers and Cracked Pistachio in Distress Oxide inks to get a gradient. Here’s a tip – use the blending sponge directly on the stamp once inked up to blend the transitions. I love the imperfect look this stamp has in oxides!
The sentiment was simple – a few stacked layers of cardstock. I die cut some Lawn Fawn Blue Jay cardstock from the Mama Elephant Big Happy Birthday die for the top layer and a couple of layers of white. Stack them together and what have you got?
Bibbety, bobbity, boo! 🙂
I added some white, blue and black coloured pencil to the die cut to give that extra bit of dimension.
These background stamps are definitely going to be featuring in my upcoming cards – they make the perfect backdrops to many types of scene cards!
