Hello! I’m back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog with some more colouring with the Anita Jeram Colorado Craft Company’s Happy Day stamp set. Last week I experimented with watercolours, today I’m on more familiar ground with my Copics with this happy day birthday card.
Happy Day Birthday Card Tutorial
I’m keeping it simple today with a one layer card, so I stamped out the main image in some Hero Arts Contour Ink onto some blending cardstock. I usually start out with the background so I don’t get any bleeding, so I used some light blue-greens for the sky and some light, bright greens for the grass. I firstly blocked out the colour, then went in later to add the individual blades of grass by flicking my markers.
For the bear, I used lots of flicking strokes to give the look of fur instead of just block colouring. This works great with the no line technique.
After I had the marker base layer down, I then went in with my coloured pencils to add the finer details (like the eye, mouth and nose). I also darkened up the shadows and highlights, adding some white pen in a few spots to get that extra contrast.
To finish, I kept it simple by stamping out the ‘HAPPY DAY!’ sentiment underneath the scene.
Looking forward to colouring more of these images in!
