This has to be one of my most favourite cards I’ve made in a while! This unfrogettable birthday card is over on the Heffy Doodle blog today, and features several different sets from the latest Heffy release: Be Hoppy Stamps, Freshly Cut Grass dies, Build a Pond dies and Moxie Alphabet dies. Combined together, these create an unfrogettable birthday scene card!

Unfrogettable Birthday Card Tutorial

This was definitely a fun one! I started out by stamping most of the elements from the Be Hoppy stamp set in some Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink onto some Heffy Alcohol Marker Friendly cardstock. I had a blast colouring these in with my alcohol markers, making sure to vary the greens I used for each different type of element (i.e. frogs, lily pads, reeds) to help differentiate. Once coloured, I cut these out with the coordinating dies.

Next up was creating all the scene elements. I started by inking some Peacock Feathers and Salty Ocean Distress Ink onto a white card base, making sure to concentrate the deeper colour towards the bottom. I splattered on some water and lifted some of the ink up on the bottom portion to give some variation to the water.

Then, I inked up a couple of panels with some Mowed Lawn and Pine Needles Distress ink. I cut both of these out with a combination of Freshly Cut Grass and Build a Pond dies, creating the base pond layer and a layer of grass for the bottom front.

I arranged the elements in a lively scene, adding some white get pen to add some life and movement.

I knew I wanted a bold sentiment, so I die cut two colours of cardstock with the Moxie Alphabet dies. The sentiment just about fits on the card (if you ignore I am technically spelling unfrogetable wrong, but that’s creative license, right!) across the top. I stamped out the ‘hope your birthday is’ from the Be Hoppy stamp set in some Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink.

A few touches of white gel pen gives some added interest to an otherwise flat sentiment.

This defintely makes for an unfrogettable birthday card!
