It’s been about a month since I purchased the Mini Copic Course: Underwater Scenes class from Art-Classes.com and I thought it’s about time I sat down to do the homework. Sandy Allnock really is an amazing artist and fantastic teacher – I learnt so much from colouring these five underwater scenes! Plus I got to use some of the stamps I’ve been hoarding in my stash, so it’s double the benefit!
I think of them all, the underwater cavern scene is my favourite. I double-challenged myself and tried out some no-line Copic colouring with this Honey Bee Stamps Swimming By image. It turned out fabulous and of course I had to colour her like Ariel!
This ship wreckage scene fits perfectly with the diver from Lawn Fawn’s You are Sublime. Takes me right back to scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef!
This kelp forest could double up as a pine forest with a few changes of colour, but this sentiment from Heffy Doodle Oceans of Love set fits perfectly. I managed to combine Honey Bee Stamps and Avery Elle products to create this sandy scene! It’s such a simple technique that looks striking.
I did do the surface scene but haven’t as yet found the right stamp combination to pair it with. Anyone have an idea? Sandy used the Avery Elle shark stamp set but that’s not one I have.
I think the thing I learned most about this class was that it is okay to make mistakes and they are easily covered up. On the bubble scene, I overfilled my 0 marker and managed to get a few blobs on my colouring. Can you tell where they were? I’ll give you a clue – the bigger bubble on the right hand side. Easily covered up, though it does look as though I need to work on my bubble placement a bit more!
I would definitely recommend this class for anyone who wants to work on their Copic backgrounds!
