I’m back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with this happy seagull birthday card featuring the MFT Seaside Seagulls set. I’m not quite ready to totally embrace the Autumn and Winter theme just yet and I know my family will love this pun!
Happy Seagull Birthday Card Tutorial
Firstly, I started out by stamping the seagulls onto a panel of blending cardstock in some Hero Arts Contour ink – this is perfect for no-line colouring. I added a few of the waves stamps across the scene, masking out where I had to, and drew in the chip on one of the gull’s wings.
Then came the colouring! As usual, I started out with the background, colouring the sea first and then the sky. I kept the darker colours to the bottom of the waves and used some white gel pen to add in some reflections and some sea foam to the tops of the waves. I used some cool greys to colour in the gulls to match the cool blues of the ocean and sky, and added in a pop of warmth for their beaks and the chip.
I stamped the sentiment from the set centrally under the scene in some Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink.
