It’s Wednesday again and I’m back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog with some floral inspiration for you, featuring Avery Elle’s Hand Drawn Florals. Sometimes, a stamp set just begs to be Copic coloured and this was one that drew my eye for exactly this reason. If you’re not keen on Copic colouring, these could just as easily be coloured with any other of your favourite mediums. I know next time I use this set I will use some watercolours.
Starting with an A6 panel of ClaireFontaine 210gsm DCP paper, I stamped out an arrangement of flowers in the bottom left hand corner using some Copic-friendly MFT Black Licorice Hybrid Ink. It did require a little bit of masking with some Post-It Notes, especially when it came to the leaves. I only used two flowers as I stamped the largest one twice. I also stamped the birthday sentiment from the set towards the top right of the panel. I then coloured them in using some red (R89, R37, R27, R24, R14, R05, R32) and green markers (G28, G17, YG09, G02, G12), using multiple markers and multiple layers to get the depth of colour. I used two turquoise markers (BG10, BG000) to colour around the edge of the flowers and give a slight background interest.
Once dry, I cut out the panel using the largest rectangle from the Avery Elle Wonky Stitches. I added some additional splashes of colour using some gold, black, red and green Kuretaki Gansai Tambi watercolours, flicking with a brush off a stamp block and avoiding the coloured sections and sentiment. I added a layer of clear Wink of Stella to add some subtle sparkle before mounting on an A2 top folding narwhal card.
A seemingly simple but elegant card that can be given to anyone.
