It’s Wednesday again and I’m back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog with a birthday project featuring a mix and match of Waffle Flower, Lawn Fawn and Mama Elephant products. I love the Rock On! stamp set from Waffle Flower and even though I’m jumping on the same bandwagon as fellow DT member Jill this week, I have a bright, cute Rock On! Birthday Card Mashup to share with you!
Rock On! Birthday Card Mashup Tutorial
Firstly, I started out by stamping all the images in the set onto some Make It Colour blending cardstock using some Copic-friendly MFT Licorice Black Hybrid Ink. Secondly, I took one of my Copic fine liners and altered some of the images slightly, changing some of them into bees. Thirdly, I coloured them in with my alcohol markers, using at least three markers in each hue to give depth and dimension. I used my Scan N Cut to cut out the images, though there are coordinating dies available.
To create the background scenes, I blended on some Distress Oxide Inks onto some white cardstock. For the sky I used Broken China, Blueprint Sketch and Faded Jeans. As for the grass I used Peeled Paint and Twisted Citron. For the purple sky I used Abandoned Coral, Candied Apple and Seedless Preserves. I flicked on some clean, clear water droplets and blotted them off with a paper towel before setting them aside to dry.
From two A6 white card panels I used the Mama Elephant Fish Tank Creative Cuts to cut a window out of the top half. It’s actually the perfect size for this type of window when turned upside down! Then I used a Lawn Fawn Simple Grassy Hillside die to cut out three pieces from the green inked panels to give my scenes a ground.
Behind the window, I layered a sky background panel and the grass cuts before popping up the die cut characters with some foam tape. Next, I stamped out two different sentiments that coordinated with the characters on the card. For the more busy card, I used some Lawn Fawn Inks to stamp out some musical notes to give the scene a little bit of life.
On another panel I cut a strip of the blue panel, adhering it directly to the panel. I layered over the remaining grass panel and another die cut character, adding a few notes and a heart to finish the scene off. The HAPPY BIRTHDAY sentiment comes from the Lawn Fawn Simply Sentiments set.
Perfect cards for any bee-loving friends!
