I’m filling in for Deborah today on the Seven Hills Crafts blog with a bright and fun pinata party birthday card featuring the Mama Elephant Pinata Party and Mama Elephant Stackable Friends stamp sets. These sets are great for creating mini scenes, though I think the mole is cheating as he has his glasses on! He has to jump higher though, so I guess it’s fair.
Pinata Party Birthday Card Tutorial
I started out by stamping the elements of the scene from the Pinata Party set onto some blending cardstock using some Lawn Fawn Jet Black Ink. Next, I used a sticky note here and there to mask off the sweets so I could pile them up as if the piƱata had been hit. I used a black liner to add some dots. I should have waited to do until I’d coloured in the background as you can see some of them smudged a little! No big deal in this case as it gives some movement to the card, but just a warning to you if you use really light markers.
I coloured the scene in with my Copic markers, choosing bright and bold colours. With the background, I added some dot detail, partly to cover up my smudging but also to add some interest into an otherwise dull colour wash. It is a party, after all!
I used a sentiment from the Stackable Friends stamp set and stamped it centrally under the scene.
A bright and fun card fit for any birthday celebration!
